A utility company located in Northeastern Florida
reached out to us for help on a project requiring replacements for some unsightly and uneven drain grate covers.
This community-based municipal utility company provides electric, water and sewer services to their surrounding communities. The water and sewer systems alone are made up of thousands of pump stations and artesian wells, dozens of water and wastewater treatment plants, and thousands of miles of water and collection lines.
Each of those utility infrastructures traverses the local land
and requires maintenance to ensure the protection of the land’s precious natural resources, as well as the health and safety of the plant’s operations. As part of their infrastructure maintenance, manholes and manhole covers are inspected regularly.
In this case, the maintenance teams identified
several drain covers located in grassy areas that needed to be replaced due to safety concerns. The management team marked the areas with safety cones to discourage anyone in the vicinity from getting too close.
Plans were drawn up with our engineering team
for round replacement drain covers that would need to be rated for 1000 LBS of wheel load for riding lawn mowers that might drive over them during landscaping. Once received, the new drain covers were quickly installed, offering a shiny new look and peace of mind.
